My clydie X is barefoot all year round. My ASH is barefoot most of the year. I do all of the trimming myself. I actually believe that it is not rocket science, to be able to trim a horse with relatively good feet. I have done a lot of research into trimming, sometimes I think more than some of the terrible people around my area who call themselves "farriers".

With good tools, a good eye and the help of a great farrier I think that most people could learn how to do a really good trim.
