Joe Camp is buddies with Monty Roberts.

Camp has a book to market and has apparently determined the best target market for it: NH types, or the delicate love-the-little-horsie-and-he'll-love-you-back types who have never emotionally matured past 12 years of age.

I find it amusing that on the site, he has linked to Stacy Westfall's site and famous video. Her performance with Roxy was the result of very hard, daily, consistent work that took 3 years to culminate in that fabulous 2006 Congress Freestyle Reining run. She didn't just hop on bareback and bridleless and YAHOO, Roxy looooooooved her so much, she just went out there and earned the highest score ever for Freestyle!

As for shoes vs barefoot: that's a fake controversy.

Sometimes, some horses need to be shod, by a COMPETENT farrier. Sometimes, some horses are better left without shoes, and feet trimmed by a COMPETENT farrier.

If a person wants to be a strictly recreational horse owner, that's sweet. But don't try to make excuses for lack of willingness to work towards improvement and excellence by putting yourself on a pedastal as one who favors everything au naturel...especially if one doesn't have the body for it.

There's always someone trying to market snake oil by a new label.
