Hey... ya'll do what you like with stud chains... I've seen the damage they can do when people lunge in em. If the horse gets away and steps on that chain it can cut his tongue practically off.

Someone thought it was a brilliant idea at some point in Louie's life to use a chain on his gums. Now... I got him as a not quite two year old. He was sweet with little handling. He had his gums ripped down to his teeth (you could see the root of his teeth) from some idiot who instead of taking time to train him decided to use a chain over the gums. It's the only possible thing that could have caused it unless it was one of those "Stabilizers" they sell in catologues. I say that because he has a real aversion to his poll being touched no matter how long I've had him and worked on it. I can do it, clip his ears and bridle path... but his gut reaction to this very day (he's seven now) is to pull away.

So.. use what you use but KNOW the possibilities.

As far as "poopsie"... I know stallions very well. Not only did I have two until last year... I handle them for breedings for other people (even get paid to do it). I have two I handle very regularly. A chain in his mouth makes him impotent. He will NOT ejaculate that way. Put it over his nose and he's fine. The other... well he prefers it in his mouth. Go figure.

My stallions didn't require either.
