I know, I know, I'll get pics! But I'm too excited to wait for hubby to come home and he has the camera.
4HandH, yes, you missed the backstory.
Somewhere, I posted about 2 AQHA horses that were only about an hr from me. I liked the look of both from pics. One sorrel, one buckskin, both with lots of trail experience, used to firecrackers, guns, dogs, etc (sounds perfect for mounted patrol!). But the lady's ad was really really lacking in info. So I had to wait a day or so for her to email me, then she didn't give much information or pricing. Frustrating. I was beginning to wonder if it was some kind of phishing scam or something.
Then she called. She rambles in conversation like her emails.
But she seemed really honest about her horses. So we drove to see them Tuesday afternoon. Oh my gosh, her place was awful. Trash every where, loose barbed wire, baling twine holding stuff together, etc. But she keeps all of her horse info well organized and her horses are fairly well cared for. She's sick, so is her husband, so the horses haven't been getting worked, groomed etc.
The sorrel didn't "click" for me. She was more stubborn under saddle, too. My husband didn't like her at all. Ivory, though...well, I knew, when I first walked up to her in the pasture that she was mine. UNLESS she was absolutely awful under saddle or something. I left there saying "I can haz pretty pony?" No second guessing, no debate...I wanted her.
Granted, it's only been, oh, about 4 hrs that I've owned her, but I haven't regretted it yet.
Here she is from a trail ride in June.
Here she is at 3 days old.
There, now at least there's some pictures.
