Just to clarify I don't think he looks great (the gelding). I also don't think he looks terrible. Some horses, not many, in fine racing form are thin. Do you guys remember when Dunkirk came on the scene he was skinny but OK, then he lost some weight and looked terrible. By the time the derby came aorund he was to thin in my opinion. He also came in near to last. Then with proper conditioning and food and training he came back to nail (2nd place) the Belmont. There are lot of examples of thin, well cared for and well trained horses of all levels. I don't think this gelding is one of them b/c of his overall condition. He is just a bit too thin. And obviously has other probelms, hopefully all of them eased with time.

I believe the question initially was if that condition is common and I would say it certainly isn't uncommon. I think it depends what track you work at, or stables.

I still think he is sexy. I love that clasical build.
