Also, your dog must be clean any dry for it to work 100% effectively. If you use one of the high velocity dryers, that gets even MORE hair out. =)


The Furminator works fairly well on some of our smoothies but not all. What does really helps control shedding is to give them a warm bath at the beginning of a shed, blow out the coat, then give another warm water bath the next week and blow out the coat again. The baths loosens the coat and it really comes out during the second blow-out. When the air from the dog hair dryer hits a coat full of shed undercoat, it's like an explosion and the sun is momentarily blocked by the cloud of hair. I never ever blow-out my collies inside as I'm afraid I'd die of dog hair asphyxiation. By doing the baths/blow-outs and occasionally furminations, the shedding is cut way down.
