Never said it was a valiant effort. According to testimony, he swam 500 meters (or might have been 500 feet, I don't recall, but either way doing that after a car wreck is pretty daunting), and went to his hotel room. He didn't call anyone. He already had a room. Literally no interaction.

I'm not defending him. I've already called him stupid. In the 40 years since the incident, though, one would think there was much more to him than this incident (which there is).

If he could swim & find his room he could have surly called the cops! But he was a drunk, rich married guy that wanted to get some teenage pussy & never thought about anything but covering his ass from the first second!

I have to agree with PDJ here. If the consequences had not been death it would have been easier to forgive and forget. But a life was lost. Did he do anything after this to make up for her parents losing their child? The Kennedys had the money to buy their way out of any screw ups they made. Otherwise Ted would spent his life in prison, not the Senate.

Agrees. I feel no sadness. I do feel for the family as I'm sure they loved him. I do think he suffered greatly in this last year. Karma is a bitch.
