Rides 16 (sunday) 17 (wed) 18 (friday) 19 (Sat, this morning)
Wow, Four rides have passed, not very many rides in over a week, and I am behind on reporting here.
To summarize these rides, we have been working a lot more on accepting the leg as a cue for lateral movement and not always forward movement. One exercise we have been working on is weaving between cones set fairly closely together (about 4 feet). At first, he wanted to speed up and tense up. This is improving. Totally disastrous at a trot though.
We have had three very nice trail rides (he is a great trail horse already though) that included sessions of cantering on a completely loose rein, stopping, then walking. While walking, we work on leg yields between the tire marks in the dirt (so back and forth). Justin wants to jump up and trot out but is getting better at just walking.
