^What tests did they run to find this out? I have some similar symptoms to what you originally posted, and they said I don't have PCOS and my bloodwork is normal.

ETA: nevermind, you already posted it! I will ask my doctor.

I have been hounding doctors for years to find out what the hell is wring with me, but I always get the "you're just overweight! crap". The A1C gave a 3 month look at my insulin and glucose activity & with those and the high triglycerides and low good cholesterol are what led to the conclusion of Metabolic syndrome! I have some elevated liver enzymes too, but those are thought to be caused from the hyperinsulinemia and high triglycerides (basically too much fat in my blood). The constant insulin production is always telling my body to store fat & why I can't "just lose some weight" despite my best efforts.

The "heart healthy" diet recommended by the nutritionist I met with last year is actually killing me! All the sugars and carbs, even though from "healthy foods" just get turned into fat in my body. I started a low carb, high protein & Omega 3 fatty acid diet (South Beach diet) immediately after the doctor called on friday-I really felt like crap all weekend, but today I am feeling better and have much more energy.

I also discovered, through some internet PCOS research, that foods high in inositols (interact with insulin) have helped other women reduce insulin levels.

Googled Omega 3 deficeincy & was amazed at the symptoms I had! Now why the hell couldn't a doctor figure this out over the past 5 years!
