My male Belgian Sheepdog runs so hard in the snow/ice that he tears up his footpads...

So, I tried Muttluks. Expensive and he lost them all within ten minutes. I never did find one of them.

I've settled on vetwrap. Just wrap the paws up and over the stopper pad before strenuous activity, and cut them off when you're done. Another idea are the polarfleece booties sled dogs wear. These are cheap and stay on reasonably well as long as the snow isn't terribly deep so the dog steps on them trying to get his back feet into the tracks of his front feet at the trot... for occasional use, they do fine.

For general walking down the sidewalks, Muttluks would work. Why do you need boots for the dog in the first place? It gets really, really cold here too, and I've never needed boots for cold, just for foot protection on really rough snow/ice. Does the dog have a health issue or will it be left outdoors long hours? If not, are you sure you need them?
