I hear what you're saying PDJ, and agree. Sadly, not everyone has the turn out space to leave them out all of the time. Where I board is an old place that most would call a run down dump. But it has EXCELLENT turn out and our horses are out MOST of the time, all year long. That is what keps me there. Last week was an oddity for us. He usually does not leave them in, much less for 3 straight days, but it was raining non stop for 3 days and it was a very cold rain. After a few hours on Wed, the horses were all soaked to the skin and it was COLD out! Ours are just starting to grow winter hair. After seeing how many people have had colicky horses in the last 2 weeks on here, I think it definitly has to do with change of weather and being in a stall.

Ours are never blanketed, and go out all winter long.
