The weather in Ohio has been causing a few colics lately. The first major drop in temps provided a MAJOR impaction colic at my barn- luckily he came out fine!

Over a year ago, I noticed a nursing mare lay down in her stall and grunting/ attempting to roll. I called the owner and after about three attempts to tube/oil, we had to load her for surgery. The mare absolutely did NOT want to get on that trailer, but we finally got her there. They did the surgery and she made it through, but she wasn't ever quite the same after that. I hear they're competing again, so who knows.

The only reasons Scout colicked were to due to very poor feeding practices at one barn (fed four hours early) and then when I was trying to get her system balanced out from having very little balanced nutrition.

I cannot turn out my filly 24x7, but I would if I could- you gotta make what you have work!

Good luck to her and I hope she's doing better!!!
