I have only had one colic situation with my horses since we have had them (knocks on wood). It was feeding time and my mare was rolling in her stall. She NEVER rolls in her stall. I took her out and walked her around the indoor for about 5 minutes, she pooped and it was over.

There were several colic episodes in the barn we were at 2 barns ago. BO didn't think that they needed water and didn't believe in feeding a lot of hay. She loved to pour on the grain though. There has been a couple colics at that barn that have required trips to OSU or Rood and Riddle and a couple that were very close to needing them. We also had a lot of cut injuries at that barn too (not my horses, but other boarders). They still have at least one monthly colic there. Of course this is the barn where the BO let a horse die of peneumonia too.

I live in Ohio and I haven't heard of any colic cases as of recent and we haven't had any at our barn either. (knock on wood)

Hope everything works out.
