Where I live pretty much no one has that sort of trainer who goes to shows with you and helps you get ready and supervises your warm up and stuff.

I was at an event once and there was a guy who had a lady instructing him in the dressage warm up, she was calling out instructions to him quite loudly and the Technical Delegate of the event was walking past, and he looked up and saw what was going on and as he walked past he rolled his eyes at me and rather sarcastically asked if I was "enjoying the masterclass?" =P

I think the riders tend to get along fairly well, cos if you need help you ask another rider...if you knock down a rail in the showjump warmup, you could ask anyone's parent who might be standing around if they would pick it up to save you getting off, often you wouldn't have to ask...if you've forgotten something and need to borrow whatever it might be...

Depends on the discipline and the level as well, I personally prefer the eventers to the hackies - hacking is waaaay to political and that leads to drama and bitching. Most of the hackies I know I still like as people, only a few deadheads (who would be deadheads whatever discipline they chose, it's just easier for them to cheat at hacking). I know some ladies who are hackie-friends, and they make sure they park near each other at shows and the lady who is good at tail braiding does all the tails while someone else blacks all the hooves etc, so it ends up being a group effort...and if you want help at a show that's what you do around here, cos it's hard enough to find an instructor to have lessons, let alone have that instructor with you at a show (every regular instructor I've ever had shows themself anyway, so would never have time to instruct at shows cos they're flat out competing).

but yeah I love the eventing circuit and all my eventing friends, always a fun weekend away. Most of the showjumpers I've met have been pretty nice too! There is one Dad and he will help out anyone who is warming up at the same time as his daughter, he's out there helping put up the jumps when the course is getting changed as well...

Anyway, sort of answers the question, except rather than "how do I get along with other peoples trainers" more like "how do I get along with other people and their parents" lol.
