We have open stalls at my barn and I can keep him in work!

That contraption was the HO Lunging Cavelkade and the video was on Horse Hero and Laura Bechtolsheimer was using it. In the US, it's sold at dressage extensions website but for $50 or so. Rigging one up is not really advisable because it is not bungee, but slides up and down the back of the horse and should not be adjusted to have any tension holding the horses head at all really. It's basically very slight encouragement with just the weight of the material. But I wanted to try and see if this setup worked before buying and hooked up my really long side reins in that fashion and they did serve the purpose, however were not an ideal setup cause they wnated to slip from side to side because they weren't made for that.

I agree, unless free lunging in a round pen or arena, you are still going to be putting a good deal of stress on that knee. And there's the what if scenario of maybe the horse freaks out and you aren't prepared. Without knowing exactly how it feels to be you, that's only a judgement you can make on if you do have enough good days to get in some useful groundwork and if that work would setback your healing time. Or something to discuss with physical therapist or whoever is currently attempting treatment.

I know how you feel about leasing. I would be sooooo picky about who I'd allow to lease my horse. I'm very attached and I have that belief that no one can ride him but me because he's finnicky. lol.

Good luck!
