I hate, hate, HATE doing health certificates on a current coggins that our clinic didn't do. Nine times out of ten the coggins is incomplete or wrong! Even worse is when the horse is crossing the US border. Any time an owner gives us the current coggins for Canadian export from their vet it is NOT complete enough to pass the USDA requirements and so we have to draw another coggins. That of course pisses owners off because they think that we're just trying to money gouge them. Stupid fucking other vets.......Sigh.

At our clinic we are required to fill out ALL blanks on the coggins. If the person who owns the horse and the location where the horse is stabled is the same we are NOT allowed to write "SAME" under the stable (like a lot of vets do). We're also required to write in markings in ALL of the spaces and if there are no markings on a leg or face then in that space we are required to write "No Markings" (one employee wrote "NONE" in those spaces and was made to rewrite all of those coggins before submission). We also have a 2nd person check our work. If we screw it up then WE have to pay for a coggins to be redrawn.............
