Haven't posted in over a month- am riding though. Went to another playday with Justin and things went even better. Entered 7 classes, even pole bending! It was FUN!!!! Even the pole bending class went well- cantered the whole pattern (in poles, you weave up and down through a series of 6 poles so it is pretty tight) with great control. Again, no speed was asked for, just relaxed and in control.
We are finally starting to work on requesting specific leads. I "forgot" myself for a few days how to adjust my hips and legs in rhythm with him for a right lead departure. Had to walk around work all day practicing the hip/weight movement in conjunction with visualizing the horses footfall at a right lead canter.
Justin is hot natured and does not readily go back to a relaxed walk or trot after cantering, but it is getting better.
