The big problem I see with all these older saddle is that the width of the gullet (running the whole length underneath from front to back) is soo narrow on them. No way they are clearing the spinous processes of any horse.

I got rid of two old Crosby saddles (tossed em in the trash because I won't send them on for others to use) for this reason. If I can't fit my fist (the widest way) or at least four fingers through the gullet from front to back it no longer goes on my horses. FINALLY now most saddles seem to have caught on to that and they are made with wider gullets.
