No its more like buying a car with a cracked block or a flood damaged engine, you can change bad tires you can't change HyPP. That being said, its not the horses fault its N/H, its the breeders. No matter if a horse has never had a episode before by age (X) does not mean it won't ever have one. I would still show one, if someone needed a catch rider I would do it, I don't think I would ride it on a everyday deal. If HyPP horses are cared for properly they are less likely of episode attacks while riding/showing/work. Stress is factor too, mares foaling seem to have attacks more and it I don't approve of breeding mares with it, nor I do stallions. My colt is N/N but his dam was not. Kind of bothers me. And yes I have the UC Davis certificate stateing he is N/N. If someone has a horse that they don't know, they need to test, its worth the freaking 50 buck.
