What you'll need:
1 crochet hook
1 one spool of yarn, thickness '3' in the color of your choice
1 pair of scissors
1 piece of fine cotton (in the same colour as your yarn) 25 x 55 cm
thread in the same colour as the fabric and the yarn
This pattern is standard Horse sized, however it will fit most Haflingers and Fjords.
Start with a chain of 61 slip stitches ( 28 cm ). (Erika in: Does that make sense?) The next 7 rows will be stitched in single crochet. The 7th row will be finished by 18 slip stitches ( 9 cm ) . Cut!
On the 25 middle stitches ( 11,5 cm ) , add one line of ' single crochet'. It will be an odd number which will help with he following part..
Now you'll have to do 6 rows in the following manner:
1 stitch 'single crochet' , 1 slip stitch , 1 stitch 'single crochet' etc .... Finish wth 18 Slip Stitches ( 9 cm ) . Cut !
Sew the 2 "threads" as in the above picture.
Add 2 rows of "single crochet" but make sure you follow the design in the middle. On the 49 stitches in the middle, add a line starting and finishing with 5 'single crochet' stitches, and for the other stitches alternate once more between 1 'single crochet' , 1 slip stitch etc ... For the next 14 rows, continue with this scheme, but take away 1 'single crochet' de on each side to bring it all together. Starting from the 15th row, take away 2 stitches each time from each side to finish in a point.
Make 2 rows of 'single crochet' as in the photo!
Then, surround the point to make it pretty: 1 'single crochet' stitch, then 6 slip stitches, redo 1 single crochet stitch then leave 3 stitches free. Count the stitches so that a half circle finds itself exactly at the point.
In order to attach the bonnet, leave 4 stitches free to start a chain of 15 slip stitches and attach it leaving 10 stitches free. Repeat on the other side. Now all we're missing are the ears!
Make 2 double triangles. Remember to leave 0.5 cm extra to have room to sew . Sew the diagonal together. Sew the ears to your masterpeice. Remeber to point the sewn sides to the outside.
Last step: Make the tassels
Count how many you'll need
Attach them well, because that's what will chase the flies!
