I really agree with most of what was said in here re: responsible tats. I think it was Numnah who said that they put it around the house for a year and if you still like it, then ok. That was the rule for my first tat.

I got my first one at 17. My dad, mom and sis also got something at the same time. We're big into personal expression. I found an artist whose work I loved and went from there. I have two more and don't regret any of them. Not only do they have A LOT of personal meaning, they are just nicely done. Most people say my horse tat is one of the nicest they've seen (horses are difficult to get 'right').

I also do not understand getting a tat just to hide it, but for some people that's what's important. I need to be able to cover mine for my future profession, but I do not cover them up otherwise. At my current job, they're out and about and I've never had more compliments.

Ultimately, it's a personal choice. You have to choose what's best for you.

The moment that you stop being an advocate for your horse(s) is the precise moment when you should not be the one responsible for them.
