Having worked in an Art Gallery I can honestly say that most artists want you to get THEIR point and if you don't they will freely let you know (if they are there. In many cases especially in larger galleries there will be an essay about said artist or said piece of art) At least thats been my experience and trust me , I saw more unconventional art then what would be considered "normal".

You mean an artist statement, that is not supposed to be more than a page long? Its usually pretty vague, and I know artists to write fake ones just because. And no, artists may have their own reasons for making the work but in the end most realize that it will always mean different things to different people, and its up for interpretation.

I just dont get how anyone expect people to see something and not have any opinion on it whatsoever. Thats the point of seeing things isnt it? To interpret what it is we are seeing?
