LOL Very loving and wants attention. She nickers at me even if I've been gone 10 minutes. Its a huge contrast from the older mule who is very standoffish and only comes in for attention when she feels like it. Q: You said your mule nickered...Ive always wondered, do mules bray or whinny? or both? (just curious) Hah! Its a combination of a whinny and a bray. Her's starts out vaguely whinny-ish, and then it almost sounds like she is stuttering over bray at the end. LOL. Its hard to describe. Maybe I can catch it on video or something.

Fargo does the whinny bray combo, and sounds like a girl. Very high pitched and squeaky, lol. Mostly my mules go "uh-uhh, uh-uhhh" softly when they want my attention. Autumn, I've tried to get them on video for years, and they won't holler for the camera! I did find a couple videos of mules. The second one sounds like Mister. The first time I ever heard him holler I almost shat my pants; I thought a cargo ship was coming out of the woods at us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzm4z-Rg1sQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6fC3DvVUzk
As for mares, we've never owned any, but the ones we boarded were...um, independent. I guess that's the nicest way to put it.
