A friend's horse got penis cancer when he was 18. They took him to UGA, and amputated his penis. He was already gelded, so I'm not sure how that would add to his recovery time but her old man took it just fine and was back under saddle in a month or so. I think he was at the vet school for three days and then came home to stall rest? That was ten years ago and as far as I know he's still going strong.
