All our horses at the barn have their blanakets checked and removed daily here in Alberta, we have seen the effects of blankets that are not removed .....red raw rubbed chests and shoulders which then became infected ...just the ugliest most painful thing
Blankets shift and blankets bunch., horses roll and blankets and straps break or tear or get twisted. Always always check blankets and remove, no need to groom ( sonnet was groomed for the first time today in 8 days but her blankets were "reset" every single day ) It is a recipe for disaster not checking and resetting them each day

Re weight I would be keeping a eye on founder but very careful on how you cut back because as someone said starvation mode can kick in and that is even worse. I may have missed it but is there anyway that he cannot be fed free choice and instead fed once in the morning once in the night?
