KR My mare is dun. Not even buckskin. Dorsal stripe, zebra/leg stripes, even a faint wither stripe, black tipped ears, multi-colored mane, everything. None of her dark points fade. Ever.

But if you've looked at enough horses, you can almost always identify the subtle phenotypical differences betweens buckskins and duns.


Subtle? Dun factor=dun. No dun factor=not dun. I don't know why people have such trouble with it. If it's an adult horse with a dorsal stripe, zebra striping, and darker points than the body color, it's a dun. The frosting on her mane is frosting on the cake. Who's going to fight you on obvious dun factor?
