Dutchy and aficat (and others), thanks for the whole gene breakdown thing.
I do actually know HERDA and HYPP pretty well, so using those as examples was a good call.
Now I'm immensely curious as to who the stallion was, and/or what the other parts of the color gene the dam has. I've never seen a cremello or perlino colored mustang from the BLM center that I got her from, so Daddy must be...? Buckskin? Smoky black? Dun? I've often thought about it.

May I ask how old she is? If you REALLY think she will be grey, she could wait until she is five or six to change. Is there any other "roaning" going on anywere else? If not, she isnt likely going to change colors

She'll be 6 in April. No roaning anywhere else. She's NOT gray; I know she won't turn colors. If anything, she's gotten darker over the years.

Five and a half years old:

(What do you mean she's fat??? :lol )

ETA: burnt umber, I was distracted by the mini's hooves too, so before you start on my mare... she WAS overdue for a trim in this last photo. lol. And as for laminitis goes... Yea, she's just barely not I/R, and so is separated from the other horses and is on a "diet" (how do you reduce a horse's diet when all she's ever gotten is 2% of body weight in hay and free choice water/salt block, and could thrive on air? lol. Less hay, I guess.).
