Ok. Well I've been riding English awhile and I've always held the reins the same way, thumbs up. But recently another
instructor, who was a subsitute, told me to hold the reins facing in, so that if the ends of the reins were pencils they would cross each other. Now, i'm
confused. I've been looking at pics and everyone holds their reins differently! I just need to be set straight, and I feel like a newb for asking such a
silly question, but I don't want to have to fix this possible vice in the future. Are dressage riders supposed to hold their reins like that? They look
like puppy paw hands to me, most of the time. And OMG, what is with the jumping posistions lately? Is Rolex seriously the only place where people have learned
how to execute a crest release?
And question two.... my favorite mare is ponyish and is what my instructor calls a dark bay.. black or seal brown with a light mane and tail, like chestnut. And I looked in a book and came across a horse breed called Toric.... displaying a black stallion with practically red mane and tail. What's this color called?
