If you research colic you will find over 90% of colic is caused from impaction. Many vets will give an enema along with tubing mineral oil into their stomach. The enema will do no harm if it doesn't relieve the colic. I've gave enemas to all my horses for over 15 years & never had an ill reaction only 100% relief. You only have to be gentle when inserting the end & lube it with mineral oil or Vaseline when inserting it in about 4 to 6 inches. BTW, I am very experienced in giving enemas, how many have you given? I've also had 100% success too & have helped saved dozens of other folks horses from dying from colic because a vet couldn't make it out or they didn't have the money for a vet.
