Before that EVERYONE had a "forever home" for every horse they had and looked down on anybody that even thought about selling or breeding because it didnt take care of the cripples out there that needed forever homes. If someone suggesting euthenizing a horse everyone jumped down their throats for not doing more for it. Now its okay for members to breed really ugly horses because the foals are cute in the spring. Now its okay for someone to sell a few horses and get a new one. Now, there is still fun and snark, but its not directed so much at one or two people. The band-wagon effect isnt as strong. (Maybe the band went somewhere else to play in a different parade?)

Build a man a fire, you keep him warm for one night. SET a man on fire and you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life!

That is the only horse's care I have control over. Actually that is the only horse's care/fate I care about. I can not control and I am not in a place to help any other horse out. As for giving belly rubs to folks who shouldn't own horses or even other pets or human children I am not going to do so. So I don't bother wasting my time posting on their mindless threads. I am not going to effect them in real life just as others are not going to effect me.

On the first point I remember months ago when someone was having trouble with her horse just about everyone suggested she think about finding a new horse. I have still never seen anyone encourage someone to breed a fugly just for a cute foal. I'm surprised no one else mentioned this. Is there some example I missed? I only ever see people discouraging people from breeding fuglies, especially if they're only interested in a cute foal. In fact, this is always a one-way ticket to getting torn a new one. Now lots of times people will compliment someone who posts pictures of a foal they already have, even if its breeding isn't that great. But I think this is more because you can't fight about everything all the time and sometimes you want to be nice to people on the board in the interest of not being everyone's enemy. You have to pick your battles.
