I was at the Celebration in 04 when The Black Night Shade won. Didn't know he had passed. Anyone know what his cause of death was? Another TWH who has a beautiful head is Extra Cash. I couldn't find any pics of him on line tho.

SpottedInDixie wrote: Yes, I think heads are subjective not only in personal taste but from breed to breed. I know many people think our horses don't have pretty heads. There's been many posted on this thread that made me say "Eeewwwwwww, WHY?" but realize for that particular breed, it must be a nice head. I'm the same way with Arabians. I do like your stallion but those heads just aren't my thing. They just aren't normal, in my eyes. Especially those with the extreme dish going on. I have a freind who has straight egyp horses (and no, I really don't know what that means) and spends more money on one horses than most of us make in 5 years and I still tell her I think they are ugly. I can look at everything but the heads and appreciate them. So, please don't take offense to this post. I'm sure you don't like the heads of other breeds, considering what you do like. I just wanted to point out that a thread like this is based on a breed by breed basis.

If I had to choose a horse for myself (between tobago and reggie) I'd probably pick reggie because his head is a little "dryer" as EVA said. They're very diffrent looking arabs and both are gorgeous (as for perfect breed standard though, I do think tobago is it) **no one take offense as your horses are both gorgeous!

I don't take offense at all but just to clarify Reggie's head is absolutely up to "breed standard". The more pronounced dish is because of halter horses. Here's a photo of Bay El Bey which Reggie is very linebred to. He's also one of the "greats" that top horses have in their pedigree. Notice that his head is very similar. Over the years the halter horses have bred for more dishy heads which has also started some controversy. Reggie actually has a more old style Arab head and it would not be counted against him. Again, I don't take offense I just want to clarify to non Arab people that there are more than one "type" of head that are absolutely breed standard. Thank you Phnee by the way
