'Twas the night before Hippie Day
and all through the pad,
the smell of pot
was getting very bad.
The leaves were put
in the oven with care,
in hopes they would be dry
before the Great Hippie got there.
The hippies were nestled
all snug in their beds,
while hallucinations danced in their heads.
While Pusher in his polka dots,
his friends in their stripes,
had just settled down to fill their pipes.
When out in the yard
there arose such a clatter,
Pusher sprang from the floor
to see what was the matter.
He flew to the window
and pulled up the shade,
hoping it wasn't another raid!
The smoke on the window
of the hippie pad,
made looking out to see extremely bad.
When what to his wondering eyes should appear,
but a field of marijuana
grown up to his ear!
With the weeds so tall
and looking so fine,
he knew this kind
would blow his mind.
He shouted to his friends
so excited he became,
he whistled and shouted
and called them by name;
Now Puffer! Now Cancer!
Now Pothead and Tripper!
On Mary! On Jane!
On Smokey and Flipper!
To the top of the ceiling
to the top of the wall,
now puff away! Puff away!
Puff away all!
The hippies were angry
for all that waiting,
when they realized
Pusher was hallucinating.
Away to the oven
so rapid they flew,
but the leaves weren't dry
so they sniffed some glue.
Then all of a sudden
from nowhere he appeared,
The Great Hippie stood there,
sporting a beard.
He was covered with hair
from his head to his toes,
his clothes were ragged
and his beads hung low.
A bundle of drugs
he had slung on his back,
and he gave a weird grin
as he opened his sack.
His pupils were dilated,
his breathing was slack.
His feet were bare
and his teeth were black.
A reefer he held
tight in his teeth,
and the smoke encircled
his head like a wreath.
He spoke not a word
but went straight to his work.
He filled all the pipes
and turned with a jerk.
He handed out needles
and heroin too,
some LSD and some tubes of glue.
He gave them pills
of all different kinds,
they knew now
they could blow their minds!
A wink of his eye
and a touch of his ear,
soon gave them to know
they had nothing to fear.
And they heard him exclaim
as he turned a flip,
"HAPPY HIPPIE DAY TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD TRIP!"
This was written by a good friend's sisters way back in time, lol.
