Last year we got tired of paying the gas prices for my truck to drive to work an back (30 miles 1 way) so we purchased a VW Jetta, which i LOVE! Great gas
mileage, easy to drive, plenty of trunk room. When we purchased it one of the major selling points was the "southern hospitality" program where you
get all your oil changes free for life, and as long as you get your oil changed every 5000 miles, your engine is guaranteed for life. We mentioned to the
salesman that we weren't sure because I work 1 1/2 hours from the dealership and I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend my Saturdays getting my oil
changed, his response, oh no, we have Tuesday nights where if you get it here by 7 we can get it changed while you wait or we will give you a loaner, so we
bought the car.
after one oil change they canceled the Tuesday night deal. I did two oil changes through NAPA, over $80 with the special oil and the oil filter. So, back to the dealership.
Last oil change I scheduled a loaner so that I could run some errands, have lunch with my MIL and then get my son's 4 month pictures done. I got there and the guy said they weren't that busy, so how about if you just wait and we will get it done in 45 minutes. I said sure, after an hour, should be done in 20 minutes, another 45 minutes, just 15 more minutes. Kept up with the same bs and finally it was done, after 4 hours, I barely had enough time to get to the picture appointment, let alone lunch, and guess what type of mood my so was in after spending 4 hours in a dealership, cranky was an understatement, fortunately he is easy going so we got some good shots (which involved me jumping up and down) and then I went home (again, no lunch!).
Fast forward to this weekend. I called and made the appointment, asked for a loaner so that I could drop it off. At the last moment I dropped my son (now 6 1/2 months old) with my mom so that I could run some errands and get some stuff for my sisters birthday (we were doing some paint-balling).
I get there, no loaners available, and it will be 2 hours. Oh well, I had a book. I wait 2 1/2 hours (and finished my book) and went up to ask how much longer. guy pulls it up, says you have 6 cars in front of you, about an hour and a half. I say, why is it taking longer then you said? apparently I set up a drop off appointment, so they keep it all day and give me a loaner, and do it when they have a break in the "regular" appointments. I sit down wait a couple of moments, and then go up and ask for my keys and leave.
I call my hubby, totally pissed off, then call my mom to say I am on my way, and vent to her for a while (she asks why I didn't talk to a manager), then husband calls back. No one there can help him, they will call him Monday. I get even madder and turn around and go back. I asked to speak with the general manager (who for some reason WAS there), tell him the story's, told him that my parents over the years have bought a GMC van, 2 VW beatles, a Jetta, and a Eos (their sportscar), my MIL has a Jetta, and we bought a jetta, all from them. The last time I was in we talked about trading it in for a passat so we could have more leg room, but after my experience the last two times, I was leaving and going to the closest ford or chevy dealership and trading it in on whatever I could get because I wanted nothing more to do with them.
He went to talk with the service manager, they put my car in and got the oil changed and he gave me a car to drive, and they had it done in a half hour. He told me from now on to just make my appointments through him and he will make sure it doesn't happen again, but I am STILL pissed off. I didn't get everything done and get back with the paintball stuff till almost 3, it put my entire day in the crapper!
