Okay, so I bought a new Wintec close contact saddle. Exact same one I have (from England) just one size larger seat (17 instead of 16 b/c I needed more flap
under my leg XC) and I got the flocked one instead of CAIR.
I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH CAIR and Baxter's back. My CAIR saddle fit him very well; in fact, our saddle fitter has recommended them for a lot of our horses. I only changed because I thought flock might allow finer adjustments (and it was a bit cheaper, since I was neutral about it).
Got it yesterday... and the panels are a bit thicker/ higher than my CAIR panels, and the whole thing seems to sit a bit higher on the back. I know that flock has to break in and settle, but I don't know how much settling will occur or how long that takes. Anyone have any insight into this? I am wondering if I should send it back for the CAIR version, but that's going to be pricy, so I don't want to unless it's absolutely necessary. That said, a saddle that doesn't fit correctly is worthless, so I'd rather a little expense now rather than a lot later.
Ideas? We may have a fitter out this weekend that I can ask, too.
