Regardless of how much "speed blood" they have..... if they can't use that speed, they are worthless. Speed blood DOES NOT equal crawling along the rail in a pleasure class. I also find the mention about Doc Bar being a racehorse laughable. Like Impressive, he may have been race bred... but he sure couldn't run so if you add that fact with what the articles from 1948 and 1948 are saying... both Doc Bar and Impressive are trash since they couldn't run. And I am also pretty darn sure that Scoop Vessels doesn't have any Doc Bar blood in his brrodmare band, lol! So those articles form the late 40's totally contradict what the more recent ones are saying with regard to what "speed blood" is.

That's why cutters who don't have that much cow sense can become ropers, reiners, penners and reined cow horses. What can a WP horse do outside of its own discipline? Again, I'm not dismissing specialization (like FTFOTB does), I am just trying to say that the more demanding the discipline the more aware you can be about a horse's different abilities.
No but then again neither are cutting horses
This is true, how can you argue against it? If you are using human sports as a comparison, some sports require more athletic ability than others. Jogging doesn't require the same amount of athletic ability as say, hurdles.

According to the articles that FtFotB swears by (posted on the Bull Dog thread), they would agree since the cutters can use speed and stop on a dime. As I said before.... all the halter horses and pleasure/performance show horses do not fit the criteria for what the articles are saying a great QH isable to do..... USE SPEED.

I've watched my well bred pleasure horses turn on a dime when a dog came shooten out of the grass. I've seen them stop dead in their tracks (actually slide into a dead stop) and spin 180 degrees at another horse when they are play fighting. I've watched many of my yearlings and older haul ass at the fence, do a sliding stop into it, spin around, dig down to china doin a rollback and haul ass off again. The thing is, we don't train them and condition them to do it on a regular basis but it is not like they are completely incapable of doing it.

I don't "swear" by anything. I posted those articles as another point of view to the first one posted by WDW. Since you brought up speed blood, you admit to the benefits of it, but only if it suits your own discipline? I'm surprised that the point of the Integrity thread has totally escaped all the intelligent people here.
There was a point to that thread?

Only recently have people acquired this mindset that the TB is no longer needed. And look what we have now...

You were the one that said to read them because your idea as to the origins of the QH breed were different than what I had posted (you said they were originally race, I siad they wer originally working horses that were raced for fun).
