That doesn't give me a picture in my head of what your ideal appaloosa is? Please post a pic and remember - don't let it resemble any other existing breed.. LOL

This horse is 1/2 arabian, 1/4 paint, and 1/4 Appaloosa.

vixen of doom wrote: I don't see anything here that is singularly an app characteristic with the exception of the spots This looks like a mustang cross to me This looks like stock type horse (I know the dreaded QH thingy again) to me This looks like some type of warmblood cross This guy could also be a qh cross This one looks like a thoroughbred with a foundation app head And As much as I like JG Appaloosas, I think a lot of their stock tends to look like a spotted TB, and some others tend to look like spotted warmbloods. Now they RESEMBLE lots of breeds. TB, Warmbloods, Andalusians...but looking at them collectively they just look like appaloosas. Line them up and sure, they'll resemble other breeds, but as you already pointed out, a well balanced horse is a well balanced horse. Goody goody, at least I don't feel like I'm completely off track from where you are Some key things I'm looking for: Solid legs, rounded hindquarters, arched neck that is well set, profile that is straight to slightly convex. I want to look at that horse and think balanced enough for dressage, but capable of carrying itself and rider over a long distance, I don't want to see the bulkier muscling build of a sprinter, but something that leans more towards distance running. There are other things I'd look for as well, but they just don't show well in pictures. All right, lets see your ideal Appaloosa.
O.K. let me find one

He's got an Appy butt. ) This one looks like a thoroughbred with a foundation app head ( Actually, he's an Andalusian crossed with a Foundation App, and is my least fave of all these, but he's got Appy legs.> O.K. let me find one

Though I find it strange that you would spend so much time arguing with me about a breed you don't think exists outside of it's markings. It's no wonder you couldn't find any way to differentiate between a Quarter Horse and an Appaloosa because you don't think Appaloosas have any actual breed characteristics. I have asked you repeatedly to cite these characteristics you claim all apps should have (other than coat patterns) and the photos you posted all look different - they are all conformationally different. The only thing they have in common are their spots. So I guess you are quilty of exactly what you are accusing me of.
