What exactly does make a sire then?

You're entitled to your opinion - but I think you are way off of what is factual. A dud doesn't produce winners. And you can site statistics on his get, but you must also take into account the high number of champions who had impressive 2 or more generations back. He made a profound mark on AQHA and like him or not, he produced great horses.

"Cow" breeders have just as much irresponsability in their practices as halter people do. They merely justify it because they have a "job" I know first hand that the number one cutting/reining horse breeder is knocking out little bitty 14 or less hand horses that aren't truly even registerable but they don't give a @### because they're in it for the money and don't generally compete in AQHA

Ah ha! There's that phenotype and eye appeal thing...which has no value whatsoever to a cowhorse person.

And second, please, name 1 top cutting horse (other than Smart Little Lena and Shania Cee) actually shorter than 14 hands? there aren't that many, contrary to what many people might thing. BTW, I'd take a 13 hand athlete over a 16+ hand 1400+ pound horse that does nothing any day. Get on AQHA's website. If you're a member of AQHA you should be able to navigate your way through it and find that information. Why do you think there is a Quarter Pony registration??????????? That's fine if you like a smaller horse. But don't sit there on your high (or little 13H) horse and try and convince anyone that only your type horse is quality.

People who are paying $25,000 stud fees for breedings to Babcock's horses are not interested in showing or competeing in AQHA. They have their sites set on NRHA or NCHA and you don't have to have a registered horse to compete there.

Too bad some people don't breed for any.

Many of your top cutting horses don't reach 14h. They're getting smaller and smaller, in case you haven't noticed.

Well even if Smart Little Lena was the absolute only 13 H horse ever to be registered in all of the history of aqha ever........you're talking about the number one sire of cutting type horses so it does matter.
