So my husband will probably be taking a job in central DC, or an just an inch outside at Bolling AFB. I don't have a horse now, but would really love to get one when I am able to - most likely during this part of our lives. However, I am so scared to even look at boarding in this area.
If we are lucky, he might be able to get a job out of Chantilly - from the map this looks like a MUCH better situation. Less city, less traffic, less everything. My job is very portable, so it isn't as much of a concern.
Can you guys give me any hope as to reasonable boarding? Are you familiar enough with that part of your region to suggest areas to live that may be a half
way point between good horse boarding and DC area? Or in the Chantilly area?
I would prefer, truthfully, a private barn or a small facility - both with great care of course. I come from the HJ world, but want to transition into
eventing. However, when it comes right down to it (excluding safety and care) price is my main concern... I don't even know if it is reasonable to
believe 'regular' people could afford to keep a horse in this part of the country.
This won't happen for another year or so, which will give me some more research time but, being inspired by the recent thread concerning Baltimore, I was hoping I could get some advice, or even informed of venues for such information (that Equiry website looked great!) regarding the possibilities of board...
Much appreciated!
