Hey everyone. Been gone for a while, sorry about that!
Well, I've finally got my consultation with the gyno and she's scheduled me for surgery. I just found out today that it's tentatively booked for
August 20. The primary part of the surgery is to review/remove the large cyst I have on my left ovary. It's a fluid filled cyst but she said it had
something in it. I can't remember the terms she used, but said it was the same as the part under your nose (and she didn't say the word cartledge, that
word I would have remembered!). She said there is a condition, although rare, that could be the reason behind the cyst. I can't remember the condition.
It's not normal cells, but abnormal cells (though not cancer) and if the test show these abnormal cells, then I'd need to followed up with a gyno for
the rest of my life because it could come back. She sent me for a blood test and if it came back with high numbers, chances are I have that condition. I
don't know the results of that yet, but I did confirm they got the results back already.
Right now the cyst is located above the lower part of my bowel. Depending on how big it is, and if it's attached itself to other parts/is that abnormal
cell type of cyst, my surgery may go from a simple laparoscopic surgery to an incision (like a c-section) and go from only removing the cyst to having to take
the whole left ovary and even my appendix out.
While she's digging around in there, I advised her that I also want a tubal ligation. The tubal ligation option she uses are filschie clips. What I
didn't know is that the success rate is 1 in 200 will get pregnant after getting the procedure done. Those don't sound like terribly good odds to me. I
was thinking this was a permanent method of birth control. My luck, I'll be the 1 in 200 that'll get knocked up!
EVA (or anyone else), any tips or suggestions/comments on any of this? I don't really have a question, just any further information you can give me would
be great.
