Okay, her's the thing- my mom's church is packing up huge care package boxes to go to servicemen on active duty, overseas. BUT, if we send these boxes
to the central officew, they will get broken down and absorbed into general stock, which means the service folks get little to none of it.
SO! If you have friends, family, acquaintances, old bfs, gfs, or you crazy Uncle Joe in the military ovrseas, pass along an address for us to send them stuff! This is somethig I did for my brother and friends while they were stationed out, and they loved getting these boxes. Especially because MOST of the types of things we send are in fairly short supply overseas, except at the commisary, and that only has limited inventory.
The boxes include:
Toiletries, and luxuries (like real hand lotion and shampoo). Wet wipes and Germ X. Games, fun things like frisbees and yo-yos, small hand puzzles (like rubix cubes), non perishable food items like jerky, trail mix, hard candies, canned meats and sweets, chips, pretzels, packaged snack size cookies. Chap stick and sunblock, sunglasses. Razors, bug repellent, flea collars, pens and stationary, crosswords and puzzles, reading material (all PG rated), and powdered additives for water- Kool-Aid, Iced Tea, Crystal Light singles, etc. Brand new socks, hair scrunchies and ties for the women, small boxes of personal feminine products, and occasional small bottles of things like perfume, cologne/aftershave, body butter.
We have fifty boxes packed so full it's scary, more than enough to share through a unit with someone's friends and colleagues. We have three more pick-up loads of stuff that we are waiting to pack up (we cleaned out the PO's supply of flat-rate boxes). Ther are more boxes than we have people to send them to, so anyone who would like to, please, let me know who to share the wealth with!
