My mare apparently didn't read the bitting books, as she seems to prefer single jointed over double jointed. There's too much movement with the frenck links and oval mouths, I think. But she isn't a fan of mullens either as she likes lots of tongue room.
Not really looking for bitting advice, just wanting to see if anyone can find that bit!
Indigo; Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

She goes in a hackamore right now, and is great. But I am forever on the quest to find a bit she likes.
If I never find a bit she likes as much as the hackamore, that's fine. But I do like to look around and see what's out there.

There's a ton to learn about bits and generally western folks aren't into them so if you're going to go down the path of bitting, listen to the english people (yes, like nums).
Which nathe bit? I think they have a whole line. Do you know how they're different than happy mouths, too? I've always wondered that, since they're quite a bit more expensive but they fundamentally look the same.
Appy; The mullens I've tried don't have enough tongue room, unfortunately.
As I mentioned too, if she ultimately just wants the hackamore over everything else, I'm fine with that. But I do like to shop around and consider new ideas.

I found 2 that worked okay, but none that worked well. Gave up in the end. I can see the point of continuing if you want to show or be able to resell the horse, b/c as we all know, bitless horses tend to be passed over. All I can give is what my low-palate horse found tolerable. I don't show and I'm never selling, so going bitless wasn't a big deal. I know it's not lack of training on my horse's part b/c she goes very well in just about anything that doesn't require metal in her mouth.
