I know we shouldn't "judge a book by its cover," but let's face it...we all sort of have our biases based upon looks. What's important,
I think, is that we recognize those biases and try to learn differently or NOT let them affect our actions. Ok, so that's my disclaimer.
When I
started reading the "what are your preferences in a horse thread," I realized that I was reacting to some "preferences" and it made me
wonder if anyone else does that?
For example, when people want horses that are 16hh or taller, I think of shooting. I shoot with a 9mm, most of the men around me use a .45. I think so many men feel that they have to use the higher caliber gun. Penis-envy or something. I tend to think that average-sized women who want really big horses are trying to prove something...as in, they're a better rider because they can "handle" the bigger horse.
That said, I don't really *believe* those things. Or, at least, I don't think that I do?
So what are your rider/horse associations? Do you think people who ride "loudly" colored horses like extra attention? People who ride "short" horses are too old and out of shape to climb up on the taller horse (that's me!)? People who ride bays are boring (that's me, again!)?
