Okay here's my assumption. People who go on about how their horse is an OTTB. As in mention it every five minutes. OVER COMPENSATING. Like short man syndrome. Probably don't ride great, need to make themselves look better. People who have a TB and call it an OTTB despite it never having raced or worse never even having done race training is just laughable. Overcompensation to the extreme. As a side effect, pretty unlikely to take anything they say seriously. Erm, those are the main two I think. Everything else people have already said!

Tack is cleaned everyday at our barn, so I am accustomed to clean tack and think it shows that the rider genuinely cares about their appearance and puts in the time. If it isn't clean, I assume they don't care about the longevity and safety of their tack This made me go out and clean all my tack today. As for the horse height preference mentioned by another user, I don't see anything wrong with that. I personally like 16hh+ horses but that's not so I can prove I can "handle a big horse", I just feel uncomfortable on anything smaller plus I prefer the longer strides. I have long legs that make even a 16hh horse like a pony in some photos Dammit my quote thing is screwed up.

I can't think of any legitimate pros that I know or have worked with that ride in jeans on a regular basis. Most everyone is a breeches or riding-tights kind of person. In the 90's it was the trendy thing to school in jeans and custom full-chaps. Now it's breeches and half-chaps (yuck halfchaps).

A little faded is alright, but the dusty brown look just doesn't complete the clean polished picture. I am not a fan of troxels in the show ring either. One more thing - polished boots are a must! I HATE dirty boots - looks careless
