If you told me you rode western, I'd immediately assume you just puttered around on your horse on the weekend. (Nothing wrong with that! It's pretty much all I do.) If you told me you rode dressage or eventing, I'd immediately assume you had an expensive horse, fancy trailer and paid a fortune for board/lessons. If you told me you did hunters, I'd immediately assume you were a teenager. (I just don't know any adults who jump!) If you told me you had synthetic tack, I'd assume you were new to horses (hadn't commit to quality tack yet).

This is funny to me only because I ride a QH, and my roomate rides a Paint, and we both do eventing, and we have diamond in the rough (inexpensive) horses, and keep our horses at home and have no money to spend on board/lessons The only thing my roomate does have that goes with the above is a really nice truck and trailer.

Agree lol or they say "well my horse just doesn't like it" yeah ok. Or boring...WTH. You make it what you want. I used to ride trails like a x/c course. I agree the excuses are limitless.

I though HUS stood for "Hunter Under Saddle"

I think it can be very true and I can bring to mind several examples of people in my trail club who are attention whores. It pisses me off, because I do not fall into that category even though my horse is an absolutely ridiculous color. She is perfect for me and I have grown fond of the spots....but I do not like complete strangers zeroing in on me or my horse while camping. I miss riding my old bay and gray.

I don't have the time, or money, to show anymore... So... just trail-riding, which is what I do because I, and the horses, enjoy it... and I have MILES and MILES of trails at my disposal... makes me a noob that shouldn't be taken seriously? ...... very nice. Not directed at you, AppyButt.. as I'm pretty sure you share my sentiments.
