The first is that no one around me understands my love and importance of horses like people do here. Just like the thread I recently started about my horse bucking, I was really upset about it but when I tried to explain to my best friend I could tell she had no clue. She tried to be supportive but didn't understand WHY I was upset. I was able to come on here and vent my frustration and get some opinions and advice on the subject, that's pretty nice Not to give too much information but I'm pretty unhappy at home right now and honestly this forum is a great escape. Even though some fights can get pretty nasty on here, all and all we want the same things and will come together when it's important (like the whole buckinboo fiasco). It's kind of like reading a book to escape but here people interact with you!
Sad to hear that things are bad at home for you EVA but glad that coming here helps.

It's the sort of thing that reminds me why I said, a while back, that we aren't really like friends here, it's more of a giant, semi-functional family. We all have our fights, and the people we just can't get along with no matter what, but when an outsider comes along and says something, everyone's up in arms. THEY are outsiders. They don't understand and need to back the h.ell off -lol-

*I* hate when boards allow users to edit their own posts!!! So instigators can post something totally horrific and when the person it is aimed at gets upset or retaliates, they go back and edit out the bad parts to make the responder look like they're psycho insane! I run an internet forum similar to this one and only myself and another girl can moderate threads... we always consult one another before we edit, delete or close ANYTHING. I like to have a second opinion and sometimes I even ask opinions from people who don't use our boards to get an "unbiased" opinion. I HATE "censoring" and so I let most ANYTHING go, unless it is blatant accusations of illegal activity (for example, I had one forum member accuse another (who was a paying sponsor of the website!) of paying her teenaged son in marijuana for working in her barn! I just couldn't let that stay up there. I politely emailed the forum member who made that accusation (she was upset because someone pointed out if her skinny yearlings were eating fence as fast as she could build it perhaps she ought to look at her nutritional program!) and explained why I was deleting that bit and that she was more than welcome to remain a member of the community but we just couldn't tolerate that kind of thing... I also emailed the person who had been accused and explained things to her as well.... other than that, I don't like to touch ANYTHING.

Yes I'm spoilt for other forums too! This is really the first one that I've been involved with so it's hard to go to those that are moderated - it feels so 'restrictive'. I do read regularly and post on a breeders forum here in Aus but I always feel like I'm typing with my arms glued to my sides and I read each post especially carefully to be sure I'm not being unintentially offensive LOL. Everyone is always just so nice even when they are having a go at someone else - it's funny really I spose.
