Edited from need womanly advice about PCOS--we can learn from each others experiences and help each other stay focused on getting healthier!!!! (Hopefully)
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome PCOS, from what I know, is highly correlated with Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Resistance, and Diabetes! At the moment I am not sure which of or combination of the four I have, but I went into the clinic for extensive bloodwork to help narrow it down and get me on the road to losing weight and getting healthy! I wwould like to learn all I can to help me through the process and hope others don't mind sharing their experiences and supporting women's health for these issues!

Not trying to write a book--I'm fairly sure I have PCOS & so is the PA at the campus Women's Health Clinic! I have always resisted using birth control because I was on the pill once many years ago & went batshit crazy, but this was way before PCOS was suspected. Last year at my appointment we discussed BC, which I refused & that was that! Doc suggested weight loss & sent me over to the nutritionist & I really tried with the heart healthy diet but couldn't lose any more weight than 10 -15 lbs! Lately I decided to google PCOS and was overwhelmed by how many symptoms I had & had no idea they were associated with my rotten-ass ovaries! Also, spoke with afriend that has PCOS and found out the only some BC are good for it and some can react badly if you have PCOS-among many other things like how ovarian cysts can cause pain elsewhere in the body if they put pressure on nerves.
I am planning to make an appointment this week to go back to the clinic and want to be as informed about PCOS as possible so that I can help the doc work out a treatment plan that I can live with!
So what BC works and what BC should I avoid? Dieting-is low carb the best? If BC balances hormones will it be easier to lose weight & decrease unwnted hair growth (i really hate that part)?
If you have any experiences please share!
