This is my new boy, gelding( were not even gonna think about keeping him as a stud). He's a "sport horse of color" but I like to think of him
as just a nice warmblood. Really laid back cuddle bug and he really didn't need imprinting as he'll let you touch him all over, play with hooves,
mouth, nose, ears etc...
Carousel(mom) used to steal foals from other mares, but when she had her own she left him with one of the pushier geldings out in the pasture while she went to
finish breakfast. She would not foal in a stall, and wasn't showing any signs of foaling so they let her out, and came back after letting the other
pastures out and there the foal was, cleaned, standing, healthy...
I'm thinking that after birthing him she was tired and hungry, but being sub-dominate in the herd she didn't want to take her baby too get hay, and
figured Dakota would fend anyone off. There are some very dominate agressive horses in the pasture, that determin the pecking order when it comes to eating
hay. She was just eating and watching them when they finally came to get them inside. Poor Dakota whinnied and cried as they carried his baby away...
Anyways mom was good for him nursing and after a day of rest is protecting him herself. Vet checked and approved, however suggests mom should increase grain.
He's got too much leg, when he lays down he get's about half way down and then just falls over. We're hoping to get him registered with the name
Carousels Rockin Playboy, because he's got a bunny in his patches.
