You know the right answer.....you have stated it here and I would not let the idea of an event of any kind risk it all. For male ego ? Nope. Good-Luck, best upgrade that truck or at least haul alone and reduce that load by alot. this is what my instructor said. She was like "I'm no so much angry that you can't take the truck, but he's making the decision." No worries, I didn't abdicate my powers. I often wear the decision-making, smarty-pants jeans in the house. But he got the info on this, and since we BOTH want to keep the truck for 30 years, we want to do what's best for it. Unless I see unequivocal evidence that says no harm will come to truck or horses if I haul with it to Rougemont, I won't haul with it because I frankly don't know enough about hauling with this truck.

When I ride my horse I get to forget I have a brain injury I was the daughter who wouldn't lift a finger in the house but cycled madly off in the pouring rain to spend all morning mucking out a stable.

StreetMutt wrote: Update: I went to the ford mechanic and I asked for an explanation of why my truck couldn't pull the weight in question since it is below max capacity. The mechanic finally relented and said the factory capacity was safe. Another mechanic agreed. I went to truck store and bought/installed the brake module. Asked the 2 mechs abd the truck guy if I needed anti sway or springs, and all three said no. When I asked: "is it safe?" all said yes (the first mech finally came to the conclusion that he couldn't find one good reason and said my tranny would not be harmed). Thanks for all the yelp everyone! You saved my weekend! Oh and I learned interesting things about my truck ( v8, 4.6 cyl, tongue 500, cap 5000, etc) and got a braking module (tried it out last nite and it was soooo cool!)

I would keep the trailering to an absolute minimum as you will have tranny problems later on. And stick with flat areas, no hills. Be slower and further away from other cars as you won't have the stopping power.
