With a bonus video in post #2! Woooo! Lucky you.

A while ago, someone posted a thread about trick ideas. I mentioned that I taught my Arabian a modified bow and people expressed interest in learning it. Today I decided to start teaching it to Justin. Here are the back posts and the videos.
Correcting that ^ what I did was pick up his foot, set it down, tap his ankle so he'd pick the foot up, then used the crop (broken lunge whip) to replace my hand. Justin already knows to pick up his foot when I touch his ankle, so I could skip the first few parts. I also cheated a bit, using the clicker and treats, because it seems to make the horse a little more keen on learning, and I would have had a much longer, much more boring video if I didn't hurry it up a bit.
Super long, boring video.
Easy to teach trick, treats and clicker aren't necessary, but make the horse a little more keen on the learning process.
He is mostly done, we just need to work on patience (holding his foot up longer) and lowering the head more (which is hard to teach in a grassy area). It probably won't take but a few more sessions.

I taught my Arabian a 'modified' bow. I had started to teach him to bow and then worried about the undue stress on his knees.
When I'd point at his left front leg, he'd drop his head down low, and lift up his leg (like if you were picking it out). It was cute and no stress to his body, and not much danger of it happening under saddle.

Um. I'll try to remember, it was years ago.
Best of my recollection -
For his leg, I'd tap it and then pick it up. I did this often, then I started tapping (gently) with a riding crop so I could be standing next to him. I may have had to tap and then pick it up, to get the point across. Eventually I'd just point with the crop and he'd pick it up. Then we worked until he'd pick it up from my pointing with my finger.
For his head, I use the head down cue - my hand on his poll until he dropped it (exactly like John Lyons teaches). I taught him "Put Your Head Down" vocally.
Then I combined them, by pointing and telling him to put his head down. Then I dropped the vocal (I may have pointed at his poll, too for a little while, I'm not sure) and just pointed at his leg.
He got it very quickly - I only think it took a few days to get it perfect.
