Well.. I am getting offered horses left right and center, and have alot in for sale right now, and have a few decisions I could use your help with.
Issue A.)
I got in a lovely TB mare (looks more QH) 16hh and BROKE BROKE, easy to ride and handle, and easy keeper. I advertised her up for sale for $500 just to offer her up, but ideally will finish her off and sell her in the spring. My best friend wants to sell her mare and buy something broke and quiet and less quirky for the trails, so I offered her this mare for $500.
Now I am spending more and more time with this mare, and am really seeing the potential in her. My friends current horse (listed in the for sale section 1000+ here) Is a nice mare, but more of a work horse then a loving pet. And she is quirky with her ears, and my friend has a broken back, so is sick of being sore after bridling her. We had her priced at $3500 which was fair, and had lots of interest, then she decided to keep her. Now she told me to reduce her to $2000 and get her sold. She wants me to wait til she sells to sell her the other one (either way I am feeding it, as I feed all hers in exchange for rent on the property). Im surprised the mare hasnt sold yet (hers) and am getting alot of calls on the TB. Can anyone critique her horse, and tell me if she is priced fairly? I am in BC Canada, and this mare has 3'3-3'6 potential EASILY and is an easy light fun ride.
Issue B.)
A friend has 6 horses she does nothing with. None are broke, They all board with me off and on, shes always moving them all over the place. I LOVE her one mare ( would be a great re-sale and deserves better) She always said she wanted $1000 for her.. which was a bit much for my budget for a sale horse. Now she has 2 boarded with me, the one I love, and another pony. Says she is taking them to the auction next weekend. I dont NEED her, but can easily find her a better home then the auction will. Its the last auction of the year here.. and the one last month had over 90 horses... I offered her reduced board (from $225 to $100) On her pony, and 3 months training on her, in exchange for Repo (the one I love). Sigh...
Issue C.)
A lady I know is a TB breeder, and basically culling off her herd. I need something bred on the proeprty for farm taxes, but was planning on buying something at auction in the spring to upgrade. She has offered me a decently bred TB, in foal to a nice TB stallion (offspring sell decently at the TB sales here) for 1/3 of the price of the stud fee.. otherwise she is on a trailer to Alberta to be *wintered* IE sit in a big field with no care. Only stipulation is she wants to be put as co owner on foals reggies for breeders bonuses, but thats fine. I didnt want a broodmare this early in the year, but wont get anything nicer at a spring auction, and the foal has strong market value.
I hate horses...
